EVA England, a consumer association offering a voice for electric vehicle drivers in England, supports the UK Government’s announcement to consult on the consumer experience of public EV charging, as well as the extension of crucial grant schemes for home and workplace charging.
The announcement proposes solutions to several known challenges of current EV drivers’ experiences with public charging infrastructure in England and shows a concrete commitment to consider the consumer voice in EV infrastructure plans and policies going forward.
EVA England will run an online survey of EV drivers, as well as a series of workshops in March, to better understand electric vehicle drivers’ views on the Consultation’s key themes. Results will be gathered and presented to Government in a Consultation response to ensure the consumer voice is heard.
Commenting on the consultation announcement Gill Nowell, Director and Media Lead of EVA England, responded:
“Consumers sit at the heart of the electric vehicle revolution in the UK. Electric Vehicle Association England welcomes both the funding boost for charging and the Charging Consultation. Drivers need to know that charging infrastructure is widespread, reliable, safe and user-friendly, across all driver groups.
The ambition of a 24-hour helpline is exactly what is needed, for example. EVA England will be issuing a survey as a collective means to respond to this critical exercise, as a tangible way of ensuring England’s EV voices are heard.”
