This spooky season, we’re excited to launch the Zombie Charger Hunt!

What’s a Zombie Charger, you ask?

Think of them as the walking dead of the EV charging world: chargers that are present but inactive, lingering in the shadows, often turned off for weeks, months, or even years. They sit idle, often forgotten, contributing to the frustration of EV drivers who are in desperate need of a charging solution.

Worse, they scare away non-EV drivers by making them believe that the whole of the public charging infrastructure is as unreliable as them.

Why Are We Looking for Zombie Chargers?

With the new public charge point regulations coming into place at the end of November and requiring EV chargers to maintain 99% uptime, we want to identify these dormant chargepoints.

We’re calling on the EV community to help us find these Zombie Chargers!

Here’s how you can join the hunt:

  1. Pay attention to the charge points in your area. Are there any that seem to be turned off or have been inactive for an extended period?
  2. Take a picture of any Zombie Chargers you discover and note their location.
  3. Contact us here or post your findings on social media, either via DM or post with the hashtag #EVAEZombieChargerHunt (don’t forget to tag us in!)

We’ll compile a list of these dormant chargers to help revive them, get them replaced, or removed altogether so that another company can put in chargers that will meet the regulations and the needs of EV drivers.

Happy haunting, and thank you for your support!
