Dr Victoria Edmonds

Drives a BMW i3 and a Polestar

Vicky is passionate about playing her part in ongoing efforts to tackle the climate crisis. She has been working on net zero and transport decarbonisation policy for nearly 20 years. Originally a zoologist, with a doctorate in animal engineering, she entered Government in 2006. She undertook a variety of policy roles including developing the first ever strategy for decarbonising UK logistics movements. At the beginning of 2018 she became joint Head of the Office for Low Emission Vehicles (now the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles), leading a large policy and delivery team accelerating electric vehicle rollout in the UK and stimulating investment in EV charging infrastructure. She led advice on the Government’s decision to end the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles in the UK by 2030 and on securing the £950m Rapid Charging Fund to support that ambition. She then moved across to the Energy Systems Catapult as a senior policy adviser, developing their strategy for integrating decarbonisation of the energy and transport systems.

She returned to Government in 2022 to co-lead the Low Carbon Fuels team working to tackle aviation emissions through delivery of a mandate that will ensure all flights entering and leaving the UK use increasing amounts of Sustainable Aviation Fuel.

Vicky is the proud owner of two electric cars. She is the mother of two daughters and enjoys spending time with them, her husband and their new puppy. She is also a keen swimmer and triathlete.
